It seems as every time something happens involving an illegal immigrant or immigrant in general conservatives push for stricter immigration laws as if immigrants are the reason for all crimes committed in the United States. I do believe that this bill is unfair, and doesn’t allow room for individual cases of why individuals and families re-enter and cross borders. Mandatory prison sentence of 5 years for re-entering because someone is fleeing religious prosecution or because they’re in need of a safe place to stay and to feed their families is not the same as someone crossing the border to engage in criminal activities. Criminals, immigrants or citizens should be held accountable for their actions, but a mother or father trying to protect their children shouldn’t be put in the same category as murders, robbers and drug
