A variety of experiences provided within our school help students transition from interacting with their peers, from their discipline to multidisciplinary learning to interprofessional practitioners. Offering experiences with other disciplines does not ensure the goal of interprofessional practice or competence has been met. However, providing students with opportunities to learn with and from other disciplines assists the students to become closer to interprofessional competence. An understanding of how to support student learning and a focus on the development of collaborative skills will best support translation into practice.
