Carr states that that the digital age has transformed people into lazy, disengaged readers. In the essay “Get Smarter” by Jamais Cascio, the author describes how the digital world can be positive impact on the way that people think. While both the essay “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” and the essay “Get Smarter” similarly compare in their revelation of the way that the digital age has changed the way that people read, they differ on their views on what this impact means to society.
The digital age and the way that people think are directly correlated to one another. Both “Is Google Making Us Stupid” by Nicholas Carr and “Get Smarter” by Jamais Cascio address the change that has occurred in the way that people read, write, and even think. Both essays agree that the digital age has changed society. The essays are similar in the sense that they both address that people are starting to find focusing more challenging than it used to be in the past.
