“I’m not concerned with you liking or disliking me. all I ask is that you respect me as a human being,” said Jackie Robinson himself, who would later become one of the most famous baseball players as he was an important person in the time of segregation.

Born as an outstanding athlete, Jackie Robinson greatly impacted baseball society by breaking the colour barrier as well as letting the MLB accept African Americans in the league.

Firstly, Jackie Robinson was a top athlete across all sports. “He was an immediate success on the field. Leading the National League (NL) in stolen bases, he received MLB’s inaugural Rookie of the Year award.”(Britannica). After receiving this award, he continued to play as well as obtaining the Most Valuable Player
