It is pretty easy to confuse transnational and international crime, however, there are key differences that make each concept unique. Transnational crimes can be easily identified, for it will always involve more than one single country. Transnational crimes are usually linked to the trafficking and infiltration of certain good or services. Additionally, “transnational crimes are those offenses for which Congress has provided a criminal penalty regardless of where the offense occurs” (Otey et al., 2015, p. 7).
