Arthritis and infections are the most common health conditions affecting the knees. When a person is suffering from arthritis and infections, the knee may experience swelling and flare-ups which causes knee pains.
*Chronic overuse. Chronic overuse of the knees is caused by the repeated motion in the legs which leads to inflammation in the tendons of the knee. This is mostly occurring in runners and cyclists as well as for individuals who do repeated movement when exercising.

When a person damages a part of their knee specifically their knee cartilage, symptoms of inflammation, tenderness, stiffness, and joint pains may be experienced. A damaged cartilage that is left untreated can lead to a symptom known as hemarthrosis or bleeding in the joint which causes bruising in the affected area.
