America may be known as a life changing place that provides anyone with a chance, and opportunity to be someone and be successful. To be recognized for accomplishments, and to live comfortably without worries. That is not always the case for everyone, specially not for many low income students that are still being affected by the poor performing public schools in America. The graduation rate for all students in America in 2011 was 79% while the graduation rate during the same year for low income students was at 70%. In order to better America’s education system, income inequality has to have an end, schools need to have better resources as well as desegregated schools to assure that every student will be provided with equality.

Segregation has not ended instead segregation is still occurring in school. In the article “Brown vs. Board of Education” Nanette Asimov states that “At Piedmont, 71 percent of students are white. Less than 2 percent are black.” while “At McClymonds, 80 percent of students are black. Less than 1 percent are white” (Brown vs. Board). Due to the segregation happening in schools in the United State some schools lack the adequate materials they need. The lack of resources in segregated schools can also depend on the family income of students. Since at McClymonds most of the students come from low income families. “Two-thirds of McClymonds students, for example, are poor enough to qualify for the federal lunch program. At Piedmont, no one is.” (Brown vs. Board). The income of the students families can also have a big impact on why some schools have more resources than others since schools with wealthier families, the families are probably willing to give money to the school to provide the best education for their
