Wage is a very important part of our living in general.We’ve always been working hard to get better live for ourselves or families.Most people believed the harder we work the better life we get. However, from reading the novel “ Nickel and Dimed” by Barbara Ehrenreich and the documentary “Waging a Living” people were not getting better life when they working more hours.So, how does anyone live on the low wages available to the unskilled? In the world we live in today, the very basic things for us to live is a room, food and all the insurances and taxes. Does the low wage unskilled worker been able to afford them easily?

However, according to the documentary and research I did. Most of the low wage unskilled worker have family need to afford. In the documentary “Waging a Living”. Barbara brooks really caught my attention. She is a single mother with five children who get pays minimum wage. In this situation is extremely hard for her. She worked over hour to just enough to afford the house and food for her children to live.There is one scene I always remember after watch the documentary. One time her child was sick, and because of her situation. She is not able to get her child health insurance. According to the state policy the low wage unskilled workers are making too much money in order to qualify for the health insurance. Therefore, she is unable to get her child medicine at the first time.How does this even happening. Barbara was working full time already to get children the best. And it ends up she is not able to get medication for her child. Working in full time also take off the time that Barbara could be together with her children.Barbara already gave up so much and working for her best. But still it was not enough. Also the more money Barbara earn the less the aid will be from the
