In my first year of marching band, my squad and section leader was Taylor Bear; a senior who clearly knew what she was doing. I admire her passion for the sport as well as the support she has offered me and the others in the squad. Taylor not only left an impression on me, but also the current trumpet section leader, Natalie Workley. Natalie not only had Taylor’s fondness, but the attitude that kept me going during our performances on and off the field. These two have inspired me tremendously throughout my high school career in band, and I would love to do the same for an underclassman. When dealing with tough situations, I always think of all possible paths that can occur based on my solutions. If I have to make a hard decision, I will always consult multiple people and ask for their opinions, which I take into consideration. An example of this would be when one of my friends consulted me about a problem going on within their family: not only did I comfort him, but I gave my friend the best advice I could come up with. I constantly checked up on him, asked our mutual friends to do the same, and supported him whenever needed. Along with all of these attributes, I am additionally very involved in many musical activities inside and outside of school. I have dedicated most of my life to music and have always been singing or picking up an instrument like the trumpet or guitar. I used to be in a children’s choir (that wasn’t associated with school) from 3rd grade to 5th grade; we would sing at nursing homes, churches, and even a few banquets as well as the Howland Fourth of July parade.
