Tom Robinson here, I understand people more than likely think I in fact hurt Ms. Mayella Ewell, however, I know I did no such criminal act. I have evidence that proves my innocence. This evidence includes, Mayella’s father did not call a doctor for the bruise to her right eye, I have a crippled left arm due to a cotton gin incident at a young age, and no incident was reported that day. Thus, I could not have assaulted Mayella Ewell. Now from my perspective I will go into detail explaining my innocence. The trial began, however, I was not nervous because I know that I could never harm anyone. Heck Tate was the first witness to speak on my behalf. Under cross-examination, he admitted that no one called a doctor to the scene to examine Mayella Ewell. I then explained to the jury about how Ms. Mayella Ewell came onto me.” Mr. Finch, I tired. However, since I have a disability and a doctor was never called the evidence is not there to prove that I harmed her. If someone’s daughter was raped one would believe that a police report would have been made to catch the criminal. But, in this case no reports were made that day. No doctor and no reports are suspicious if you truly care for your family. Also, my disability leaves me with no way to harm Mayella Ewell, although, her father was lurking around the corner the entire time I was on the property.
