“You’re entitled. You’re narcissistic. You have a tendency to job hop. You have no work ethic. You need constant affirmations of your over-inflated self-esteem. And you’re afraid to abandon the sanctuary provided by your helicopter parents.” This is what Jeff Osborne, author of the article “Bad Reputation. Exploring Millennial Stereotypes,” had to say to Millenials. Millenials are the current generation of young adults, and most of them are all guilty of at least one of Osborne's accusations; yet they are the best generation of innovators. In the past election, Millennials had the numbers to outvote the generation before them, but they did not. Most voters in their late-teens and early twenties did not even vote. Social Media was not only created by but is used the most by the young adults. Social Medias like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. are such a great way to connect with people all over not only our country but the world. Using these resources to reach out to one another and encourage voting and spread awareness of its importance could have been poignant to the recent election. One can only imagine the impact of someone famous via social media posting about voting and setting an example. Many have hundreds of thousands of followers and would rather post selfies than advocating for a cause that will better the nation. Though many view using their personal accounts to reach out about voting as tacky or redundant, it is not the same as urging someone to vote for a specific candidate and harassing them, it is simply raising awareness for a cause just as one would for a fundraiser. In the next election, hopefully social media will be even larger, and the young adults will utilize its accessibility and take advantage of how easy it is to broadcast a good
