One example of a static character in the story is the King. Since the only change he undergoes during the story is learning what the princesses are doing, he is a static character. Also, the princesses could be considered static characters. Or, the 11 younger princesses, as they all are forced to stop secretly going dancing every night, but the eldest princess undergoes more change than that.
7. The only dynamic character in the story is the soldier. This is because he goes from the poor soldier with nothing but his own wit, to the husband of a princess and heir to the throne. This change happens after the soldier tells the King of his discoveries, and “the king asked the soldier which of them[the princesses] he would choose for his wife;and he answered, ‘I am not very young, so I will have the eldest.’-And they were married that very day, and the soldier was chosen to be the king’s heir.”
