A visa is a legal document that is issued by the traveler’s country of citizenship, allowing them to enter a country that they wish to travel to, such as the United States for a limited amount of time. In the United States, there are many different types of visas, depending on the intent of the user. However, it is usually split between two categories. Nonimmigrant visas are documents which apply to tourists and professionals who wish to visit the U.S. for a short time. Immigrant visas are for immigrants who wish to live in the U.S. and become citizens. In addition, these visas have additional categories based on their location and their profession. All of these visas are entry visas, as the U.S currently does not require people to have an exit visa in order to leave the United States, only needing their passport as their travel document. However, despite this, foreigners still need to apply for a U.S visa and be approved by the U.S. embassy or consulate of their country of citizenship before entering. …show more content…
