A hero is someone who is admired for their successful achievements. When people are asked what a hero is, they usually describe someone who is brave and has unique abilities. Heroes are people who have good morals and demonstrate commitment to these morals, no matter the obstacles or consequences they may face. In The Odyssey, the character Odysseus is the hero. He has many of these heroic qualities and is admired by many people throughout the story. My real-life hero is Taylor Swift. She is my hero because she inspires me and many others with her music and kindness.

In the book, The Odyssey, Odysseus is a hero because of his role as King of Ithaca, his leadership in the war, and his ten year journey home. Odysseus is a hero because of his commitment to his men while on the Island of the Lotus Eaters. When the Lotus Eaters gave Odysseus's crew the Lotus Fruit, the fruit makes anyone consumes it sleepy and want to stay on the island forever.
