Overcoming Obstacles

I will succeed no matter what obstacles are in my way. Life has been a struggle for me, many people don’t know but I am adopted. I didn’t find out I was adopted until I was in the fifth grade. When my mother told me I was devastated and heartbroken because everything I knew instantly changed, my biological mother was on the run from the police when she was pregnant with me and since it was winter time I almost didn't make it. On top of that I then found out that I have siblings that I never knew about. I eventually want to have enough money and power to track my siblings down. I haven't seen them since I was four. They moved to far away for my foster mother to keep us in contact with each other I would like to see my biological mother as well. Coming from that realization as well as poverty at one point. These obstacles motivate me everyday to do better and create a better life for myself. Not knowing where I came from or my early upbringing affects me everyday. I’m taking coding classes after school and online. I’ve always been into technology but I didn’t know I wanted to pursue it as a career until, I interned at Discover Financial this past summer. It was an eight week program for four high schoolers. At Discover I developed an unofficial mentor in the business technology department, we then became very close scheduled meetings with each other almost everyday I was there. She told me about the life of a computer science major and it quickly sparked my interest. I had a lot of support at Discover to become a computer science major. They even set up a meeting for me to talk to all the women in the business technology department. During my internship it taught me valuable life skills and even gave me a glimpse of what life could be like for me after I graduate from
