As a previous school lunch eater, I can say the food could be better. I understand the need to limit costs in a school district with money restraints, but fresh foods are so much better for us. Starting from elementary school, we are expected to only enjoy processed fake foods. The majority of kids are seen as picky and this is an over exaggerated misconception that we don't enjoy vegetables. If we are given fresh foods from childhood, we will learn to eat them. Along the same lines, if the only choice we have is cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets, we will learn to like those.

They use whole wheat foods and try to give us a fruit and vegetable. The fruit is packed in sugary syrup and the vegetables have been frozen so many times they’re dry to the bone. My main worry is not just high school foods. At the high school, there are choices and I think by that point we can be liable for our own nutrition. The problem is with elementary school lunches. These kids don’t get much of a choice and have no food opportunities. There is no way some of the foods we eat meet nutritional standards. I understand that we have a lack of money to spend on fresh foods. It also makes sense that some kids are just not going to eat their greens. Nevertheless, I believe we should not be pandering to the minority of kids who don’t like real foods. There should be an opportunity for kids to eat real, unprocessed foods if they
