Career Projection: Pharmacists. There are countless important roles in the healthcare field. However, healthcare would not be what it is today without the advancement of medication and the role that pharmacists play in the industry. Pharmacists have the job of dispensing medications prescribed by physicians and other healthcare practitioners and educating patients and professionals about their use. The work of a pharmacist is rewarding, however, this career is not an easy path to pursue and their work should not be taken lightly. They play an important role in society by educating people about the risks and potential benefits associated with certain drugs and medications. Another aspect of a career as a pharmacist is collaboration with physicians and healthcare providers. To provide patients with the optimum healthcare, sometimes healthcare providers and pharmacists will have to work together to plan and provide treatment for their patients. The knowledge of both professionals combined, results in more reliable and successful healthcare. Furthermore, someone with a pharmacy career may have the opportunity to merchandise and promote healthcare products or services. While the ultimate goal of pharmacists is to help people, the healthcare industry remains a business at the end of the day. Therefore, with the knowledge they have, pharmacists can work in merchandising to sell their healthcare products.
