In today’s society, police brutality seems to occur more then it ever did in the past. Is police brutality really occurring more frequently or is this just a product of the media that is causing those beliefs in our society? “Today, it is tougher to persuade the public that roots of this alleged problem lies not in the occasional bad behavior or poor judgment of individual police officers, but in entire institutionalized systems of police training, management, and culture,” (pg. xii ,The Politics of Force). On average in one year, about six thousand reports of misconduct are reported for police officers breaking their codes. When discussing the ongoing issue of police brutality, people immediately refer to the most popular cases that they have heard of more than others. Many American citizens have heard of the conflicts that have occurred involving police brutality with another citizen, and especially when dealing with an African-American citizen. There has been lots of controversy spread over the country that is being published on social media and all over the Internet insulting our Justice System and claiming racism is still an ongoing issue in today’s society. Police brutality itself is not just an issue for Africans, it occurs with all genders and races. Even though the majority of reported incidents involving police officers using brutal force are towards minorities or African Americans, this is an overall issue for all races and all genders in our country. There has especially been a lot uploaded to social media that involves many of these situations. Whether the stories online are accurate or not, they are still getting out there for many people to hear and read about. Even though police brutality isn’t necessarily an issue that only minorities and African Americans alone have to deal with, it is a lot more noticeable to the public when a minority or African American encounters a confliction with a police officer and
