I will be analyzing how race and racism have an impact on the criminal justice system as a whole. There are a lot of people who have been wrongfully targeted by police and have taken the harshest prison sentences for little to nothing. The Justice system is supposed to help those get the justice after being wronged in the past but since the system is deeply rooted in racist idealies since its creation It is a system that uses and abuses the power it has that There is a lot of deep rooted racism that goes into the justice system as whole and the way the way people from poor marginalized groups are always targeted by police.

The justice system is a system that does a lot more harm than good for the people it’s supposed to protect. They discriminate and criticize it’s poor minority groups even though they claim to be colorblind. An example of this would be, “referring to the American carceral state as racial because,although criminal justice insists it is ‘colorblind,’ in practice it systematically targets and ensnares people of color”. This shows how the system is trying to delecft and seen as not the problem when it clearly is. Especially since the system is deeply rooted in racism since the very beginning of it.
