Parents are the child’s first teachers, therefore teachers and parents should collaborate to help the child succeed academically and in life.
Encouraging
Teacher should encourage parents to help/participate in the classroom and/or with school events.
Preschool Classroom Observations
I have not seen the preschool encourage parents to participate in the preschool setting with their students. I believe that this is what is lacking in the preschool of it to be successful at producing well rounded student.

Lehenerer sends home weekly newsletter and homework packet so that the parents can be involved in the classroom. She invites them to volunteer for different activities in the classroom through the newsletter. She also asks parents to volunteer to go on field trips with the classroom.

Teachers should learn what works with parents and what does not work over time.
Preschool classroom Observations
The preschool teachers barely interact with the parents, I would hope that over time they would learn from their experience and encourage the parents to interact with their children while they are in the preschool classroom.
2nd grade Classroom Observations
Mrs. Lehnerer has learned over time that in order for student to want to come to school and learn, they have to have parents who encourage them to succeed academically. This is why Mrs. Lehenerer encourages her student’ parents to volunteer in the classroom.
Accepting
Teachers should be accepting to all parents in the classroom no matter their differences of academic knowledge.
Preschool classroom Observations
At the preschool, they are accepting of all their parents as people, but not as people who interact in their classrooms.
