Racial profiling, in today's world, is unfortunately a common, and sensitive topic. Involving the practice of targeting an individual, group or race, also accusing them of wrong doings. “Racial profiling”, especially by the police, can lead to the actions and feelings of distrust, discrimination, and a lack of an individual’s civil rights. Events of racial profiling could lead to protest, and not all protests go so peacefully, leading to violent acts of law enforcement or sadly the citizens. This escalates behaviors and trust between law enforcement and citizens. Racial profiling mostly occurs in people from the minority. Regardless of your title and who you are in the community. Absolutely nothing, that's what it is. As he thought to himself, “.a black man.could not travel more than 30 minutes.without being stopped twice.” Being a big part of this community, of course SFC Gerald would follow the laws. He knew the risks of being a man of color, so why would he put himself or even his precious son in harm's way? Unfortunately, his knowledge wasn’t enough to keep a police officer from terrorizing him and his own son that night. As the article states “.the troopers terrorized SFC Gerlad’s 12-year-old son with a police dog, placed both father and son in a closed car with the air conditioning off and fans blowing hot air, and warned that the dog would attack if they attempted to escape. Creating a plan, and then taking action is the next step. Sadly, many police departments weren’t following the basic laws and criteria for minority civil rights. Having racially biased police officers could have been the source of the issue, or it may have been something else. But, what is going on to solve this are investigations of each department. A statement from the “POLICE REFORM AND ACCOUNTABILITY ACCOMPLISHMENTS” clearly says, “Since the start of the administration, the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division has opened 23 investigations into police departments.” Starting the investigations have helped the police departments reform and become better to the society. The statement also says, “Over the past three years, the department has successfully concluded the implementation of two consent decrees, as well three memorandums of agreement (MOA).” Finding solutions such as these can help put the minorities at a more equal hand, while being safe and still having their own rights. However, not every department may be cooperating with these adjustments, most of them taking their time to change for the greater
