Purpose: To inform the audience about what it takes to be on a collegiate sport and how being on a collegiate sport has its positives and negatives.
Introduction
a) Attention Material i) How many of you play a sport? How many of you play a sport at a collegiate level? According to the Official Site of Illinois Central College Athletics there are 138 student athletes this year. b) Relevance i) Many people do not know exactly what it takes to play a sport at a collegiate level. c) Credibility i) I myself play soccer here at ICC and me having that experience makes me more knowledgeable about playing a sport at a collegiate level. d) Preview i) When I am completed with this speech I would like for you guys to know what it takes to play a sport at the collegiate level and the positives and negatives that come along with it.
Transition: I am sure most of you probably know what its like to be on a sports team but not on a collegiate one, so I am going to inform you on that.
2) What does is take to be on a collegiate sport? i) It takes a lot to be on a collegiate sport. It takes (1) Hard work (2) Dedication (3) Commitment (4) Time (5) Responsibility
Transition: Now that I have told you some of the characteristics it takes to be on a collegiate sport, I am going to tell you the positive and negative effects playing on a collegiate sport has had on me.
