“We build too many walls and not enough bridges”(PureHappyLife.com). Ruby Bridges became the first African American child to an all-white school in New Orleans. In June 1963, six people were chosen by the NAACP to go to a white school, but Bridges was the only one to go to the William Frantz School. Bridges started writing books about her life after she was done with school. After graduating from her school, Bridges was honored by a civil medal for her courage and strength. It was presented by president Bill Clinton on January 8, 2001. Bridges were reunited as a teacher at her old school back in New Orleans. In 1960, Ruby Bridges change America by walking up the steps of a white school. To survived this experience, Ruby has to rise the prejudice, to face the fear, and find the strength of the faith. “My message is really that racism has no place in the heart and minds of our children" once said ( Ruby Bridges). From the reading, I know Ruby Bridges has faith in herself because she believes in her and achieved her dreams so that African American people can go to white- schools together. To achieve her dreams, she will have some troubles in the meantime. For instance, when Bridges goes to school, she prays for the people so they don't have to live what Bridges were feeling at the time. For example when Ruby mother Lucille Bridges founds out that her daughter has been threatened, Lucille prayed for her so she will do some great ideas in the future. For instance, Bridges was afraid of getting poison, so she started to pray for everything that can not get herself killed or even getting hanged up.
