I really believe that every vote creates a difference in the result of the election of the government representatives. John F. Kennedy said: "The ignorance if one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all", I think that uninformed voters can be dangerous because, even though it's a single vote the sum of all of them can create a huge difference. Some people say that requiring the vote devalues it, and that compelled voters will protest by voting carelessly. Once they understand their duty as responsible citizens they'll be able to understand the right and privilege that they have to participate in the change of the country. In my opinion, if government just lets those who are not sure about their votes out of the situation they wouldn't be fixing or creating solutions for the problem, just hiding it. The real solution would be to prepare citizens and inform them, creating an impact in them so they can know that what they think is important and matters.
Some people suggest that instead of making it easier to vote, maybe we should be making it harder. It makes sense, why not test people about the basic functions of government? Immigrants have to pass a test to vote; why not all citizens? Maybe I’m being too radical but I’d add a fine to that. If citizens don’t care about voting because it would benefit them and it could make their country a better place to live and develop, maybe they would care about the government taking 50 dollars for not doing it. Because in the end that’s how some humans work if they don’t feel threatened they don’t react or
