Anxiety is nervousness or worry caused by an upcoming event. Experiencing anxiety can be a normal response to a stressor such as taking final exams or interviewing for a new job. Anxiety is a normal part of life that everyone deals with occasionally. Anxiety Disorders possess heavier forms of Anxiety. For an example with normal anxiety nervousness can be felt about a situation but the person will still go and get the task done. People with Anxiety disorders hold themselves back from getting the task done as a result of their nervousness and worry. Social Anxiety Disorder is a chronic mental health disorder that causes interaction with people to become extremely difficult.

Another cause of Social Anxiety Disorder could be an overactive amygdala which causes a heightened fear response and increased anxiety in social situations. The environment may also play a role in developing Social Anxiety Disorder. As a child, someone may have been exposed to someone who exhibited the behaviors of Social Anxiety and learned and retained those behaviors. A person who possesses siblings or biological parents with Social Anxiety Disorder are more likely to develop it themselves. Negative experiences such as bullying, rejection, sexual abuse, or ridicule during childhood also enumerate the risk of developing Social Anxiety Disorder. New social demands and a health condition that draws attention heighten the risk of developing Social Anxiety Disorder as
