Social anxiety make social interaction very difficult for people feel like they will get judged or evaluated in a negative light anytime they are in a social setting. An example of this would be me personal life. Whenever I tried to make friends I would back out in the last second because I was afraid that I would be made fun of and ostracized from everyone. Sadly I was not the only one to have been affected by social anxiety. Currently there are 15 million U.S adults that are affected by social anxiety. Social anxiety has been called the third largest health problem in the world. The worst part about social anxiety is that the people affected by social anxiety know that there fear irrational but they are not able to do anything about it. CBT works because it tackles the way people think. By changing the way people think it changes the way they feel, which changes the way they act. CBT can also be a very successful and quick way to deal with social anxiety. Studies have shown that CBT has a 50 per cent success rate and it can be done in as little as six weeks. Another good thing about CBT is that it’s done in a group setting. This is helpful because it makes people feel that they're not alone.
