Their goal was to help those who couldn’t help themselves that where in poverty, had diseases, prostituted, had mental illnesses and many other things going on. Many hard working women and men dedicated their lives to help others in need, like Elizabeth Fry who was born into a wealth family but went out her way to help others. She treated women in prison and soon started to help others all around the world. Not only did she do that she did many other things like proposed reforms for mental asylums and worked for nursing standard. Fry also supported women who wanted to better their education and helped the poor also she founded hostels and soup kitchens for the homeless. Also Jane Addams was very influential professional in social work. She founded the U.S. Settlement House Movement to establish settlement houses in poor urban areas for volunteer middle- class social workers to alleviate the poverty of their low- income neighbors. There are so many more men and women who made a difference in the world to help others in need. They made a lead way for our generations to fulfill their duties and keep on working hard like they did to make the world better.
