To continue with a corrupt justice system, solitary confinement allows administrators to subject prisoners to inhumane treatment and harsh conditions. A victim of solitary confinement wrote a letter to a friend from the Pelican Bay Prison, claiming he was told that he was a “cancer to be cut out” and that he was “going to die here one way or another” (Strickman, Carol).
