What is Speech Sound Disorders? Speech Sound Disorders is a reoccurring mistake during speech that continues past a certain age. There are certain milestone sounds that a child should achieve and produce the sound correctly. There are two primary types of speech sound disorders that include articulation and phonological. Articulation is when a client has trouble making sounds that can be left off; changed, or substituted for another word we will hear this more with younger children. With phonological we will hear a lot more fronting due to substituting the back of the mouth sounds, and again we see this in younger children learning new words that start with two consonants, but as the child gets older they are expected to be producing
