Clearly, both writers noticed the impact of racism or stereotype caused in their lives. As the author says: “So the struggle against stereotype, the basis of all racism, becomes a purely personal one. We must beware of the impressions we create.” (Bissondath, 76). Furthermore, stereotype not only shows signs of lack of education, but also have serious consequences like loss of self-esteem, “Many Chinatown teen-agers felt we didn’t belong in any one world.” (Chio, ##). Yet, is important to point that some of those consequences might be devastating like insurgency and hate. Nowadays, we have seen more and more that racism and stereotype might cause the minorities groups to revolt against the majority. Sometimes, they see in the violence their only hope to prove a point. We need to be vigilant and extremely careful before judging a person or a group by the color of their skin or by the kind of clothes they use. It is key to understand that such stereotypes might have significant consequences in people’s life. We should be aware that some expressions might be disrespectful and offensive. Multiculturalism needs to have a real meaning not only on paper but in real life. Providing information to people, sharing your background, explaining the reasons a group might do things the way the do. Give opportunity to people to share their thoughts and beliefs. Incentive our children to read more about different nations; explain that we are not better or worse, in many cases we are just different. Hopefully one day, we perhaps, will have a fair world where we understand our differences
