Stop School Shootings

February 14th of 2018 a tragic shooting occurred in Florida where 17 High School students were found dead. President Trump hosted a conference of survivors and parents of the teens in the White House dining room to listen to the thoughts of the kids. The kids all had one common goal, stop school shootings. The main solution that majority came up with was arming the staff of the schools. The teens were telling our president how scary it was and how defenseless they felt. The way to fix this is guns on campus. The teachers in schools should be able to concealed carry. Obviously they would need to obtain a license to carry but it would help make the school safer and have some sort of defense instead of waiting for law enforcement. It gives the …show more content…
In our constitution, our founding fathers said that the future generations should be able to own firearms. When you consider the school shootings that have been going on in our country, how many were stopped? How many kids had to die because nobody could protect them? What do you think should happen? Well, I can tell you that putting stricter gun laws on AR-15’s is not the answer. There are plenty of other ways to kill somebody that don’t involve guns. Yes, guns are an easy way to kill somebody. The teachers in Mountain View are concealed carry teachers because the nearest officers are 45 minutes away. This gives the teachers and students a first defense against an immediate threat. The principal of the school tells CNN,
"People are tired of having a target on their back and that was my main reason of doing," Mike Dominguez a Mountain View School District Board Member, told KIVI. Staff in Mountain View is armed on a voluntary basis and will have to undergo serious vetting and more than 40 hours of training, KIVI reports.In the Garden Valley School District, trained staff members have access to firearms but they have them locked up.
