Focusing on learning styles in supervision is a necessary component to practicum studies. Especially since this practice involves a hands on learning by doing concept. It is important that my supervisor understands my preferred learning style to learn about my strengths, weakness and work style in order to have a more effective relationship. It is equally as important for me to understand my supervisors learning style to have a better knowledge of how information will be presented and interpreted. I think expanding my skills with various learning styles through supervision is an effective way of enhancing my abilities and gain practice skills to utilize the different learning styles in specific situations.
I believe having good communication skills and respectfulness are necessary characteristics for a field supervisor. I hope I receive direct supervision which involves frequent contact with my supervisor though email and phone. I hope that I am able to discuss my work experiences with my supervisor and gain positive feedback when things are going well and when improvements are needed in a meaningful manner. I worry that I

He or she should have effective communication skills to be able to ask for clarification and question practice approaches. The intern should also be able take in constructive criticism and apply it to his/her learning. The student can relate to me in ways that I have been an intern myself and that I can empathize with the complexities he or she may face. Specific behaviors that I would be concerned about would be the way of communication, being discourteous towards colleges or clients, and being uninterested in learning. I am accountable for providing opportunities for advancement and learning. I am also responsible to provide structure and guidance as well as providing feedback, as these are major components to the interns learning and
