Due to technology, when it comes to conversations and relationships, not just with other people but also with yourself, generations as a whole are lacking these fundamental aspects of their lives. The source says; “On the other hand, smartphones now enable people to be connected to the internet anywhere, anytime, and this constant access to social media may indeed distract from meaningful face-to-face contact.” When your main form of communication is virtual, you are less likely to know how to carry a conversation in real life. A lot of people I meet who are online a lot aren't the best at carrying a conversation without whipping out their phone. The source says “Social media may make it easier to connect with others, but recent research by German scientists suggests that constantly viewing images of others' vacation photos, personal achievements, etc, can trigger strong feelings of envy, even sadness.” Just because you're connecting with people online doesn't mean it's a beneficial connection. Getting so emotionally connected to your phone and whats on it affects the way you see yourself, your life, and your relationships. When you see people posting constantly about all their advancements, it can give you a feeling as if you aren't doing good enough.
