Lois Lowry’s young adult novel, The Giver, highlights a society which, at the beginning, appears to be a utopia where people are taken good care of and there are no known societal problems like war, hunger, poverty, crime etc. But as we gradually go through the novel, we come to know that it is nothing like an ideal happy place. It is a community where people do not have any individual freedom and choices. Every aspect of human life is controlled.
