Even though there are different genders everyone should be looked at the same mentally, physically, and emotionally. There is certain jobs that hire people because of their race or ethnicity, giving that one race an advantage of getting the job. Some jobs are based on race and gender because they do not think any other race or gender can qualify or have the requirements to be hired. It is unfair to others because the tests or interview can have high standards for certain people. Having an equal amount of gender equality occupations can help United States be known for being diverse, not based on gender roles. Living in an country that jobs are based on gender and race is unfair to people that want to work in an certain field because of who they are. Jobs should be equally competitive no matter who applies knowing they are applying to the same job everyone else is applying for. During World War II, the Taft-Hartley was passed to restrict the activities and the power of the labor unions. The amount of women that joined the labor force in war industries grew over 460% of employment (“Women”). The labor forces were made up of 35% women in 1944 but gained 1% in 1945. (“Women”). The Vietnam War participation rate of the labor force was at 98% consisting of people at the age of 30-44 years old (Cahony). The most common race to be in the labor force would be African Americans and Hispanics. At the time they needed civilians to become soldiers from a draft. The Taft-Hartley Act will prevent employees from going on strike for work related subjects (“1947”). It was created to provide peace to protect the rights of individual citizens going on strike. The act also made laws illegal to have union memberships as a condition for employment (“1947”). It helped employers be in a equal position with unions. Baby boomers were the first to start the labor force after World War I. The shift from Generation X to Millennials was a change in the history of the labor force. The Millennials would be considered the fastest generation to surpass Generation X in the labor force (Sveen).
