Hunte, Jordan Mr. Shipp English 1 CP 05/17/20204 People Are Not What They Seem In the story “To Kill a Mockingbird” we are finding out how people in the book are not what they seem. One of the people who aren’t what they seem is an elderly woman named Dubose. She was the neighbor to the Finch family and the kids didn’t like her because she was ill-mannered by them, but there is a reason for that. And the reason is that she is dying of a sickness and has been using drugs to help with the pain and was trying to stop it before she died. She did everything in her power to stop taking drugs. Every time the kids weren’t paying attention she would add more time to the clock so they would read more. After a while it was dinner time and when they came back she was dead but found peace because she had finally broken her addiction. We met with a man that was judged because of the color of their skin. The man is Tom Robinson, a man charged with something he did not do and was sentenced then killed because he was black. But really he was a hard working man that would help people like a girl that he would always have something to do so she would have somebody to talk to but one day she kissed him and her father saw it and beat her then framed Tom for it.
