Many people in the local community have experienced road rage. With the way that Norman is set up, it is hard to not experience road rage. We have all driven on the roads here in Oklahoma, especially Norman, and experienced the heavy traffic. Knowing the back roads is not enough to avoid the traffic. In order to avoid traffic congestions causing frustration and tardiness, we must consider reforming traffic laws. Researchers should review traffic congestion to gauge the general populous response. Scholars should look into amending traffic laws to include the following: an adjustment in the speed limits, add carpool lane, and enforcing a law that states semis cannot be in the left lane.

A carpool lane is a necessity for the state of Oklahoma. Because Oklahoma is in the center of the country, many travelers end up going through the state. Adjusting traffic laws to include a carpool lane would open up more room on the roads and get families where they need to go. Carpool lanes would also save my time because it would decrease the traffic congestion. The city or state can also charge those travelers and locals a fee to go on the carpool lane to create some revenue. The revenue can then be used to cover the cost of building the carpool lanes. In essence, the lanes would pay for themselves, and more. It would open up more room for me and the rest of the general public to get where they need to go. I have had some very close calls with trucks that did not see me in my little Chevy Spark. Sometimes I have to speed up or slam on my breaks to avoid being hit or being shoved into the center divider. All of us in small cars have a higher chance of being hit because we are not as visible. Traffic laws should be adjusted to no longer allow semi-trucks to be in the left lane. Traffic would decongest because the slower trucks would not be blocking the passing lane for faster traffic. My research needs to include searching for support for the idea that keeping semi-trucks out of the left lane would decrease the amount of accidents and that there would be less
