People will take drastic measures just to survive. Honduras’ government has many underlying problems that result in individuals reacting certain ways. Between the unstable government, natural disasters, gangs and low income, violence is an occurring problem that is on Honduras’s forefront. The high poverty rate in Honduras shows the need for missionaries. In 1821, Honduras became an independent country (“Honduras”). This left them to work for themselves. These individuals worked themselves up to be a solid country until in 1998 when the country was hit by Hurricane Mitch (“Honduras”). These people are the individuals who are the gas to the fire. Gangs increase the violence and crime rates. The gangs in Honduras try to find the vulnerable children to try and include in their gang (“Homes in Honduras”). The gangs see these children as their get out of jail free cards. These individuals use the children to do their dirty work. The gangs will make the children run drugs, steal, force girls into prostitution or get them to commit other crimes so that the prior gang’s members will not have to do the dirty work themselves (“Homes in Honduras”). The gangs find ways to make the children come join their gang. Whether it be through interrogation, promising sense of belonging, purpose or power, or even telling them that they will gain something out of joining (“Homes in Honduras”). When someone has pretty much nothing, that person wants something beyond them, this is where religion comes in. Many individuals living in poverty are deeply rooted in their faith (“Homes in Honduras”). When individuals feel like they have nothing, that person goes to who they worship. In addition, many living in poverty care about the little things in life. Like being kind to others. These individuals will do everything they can to provide for others. Many missionaries that come over to help those in poverty, are taken in and loved and cared for within the homes. Children are taught to be respectful and kind to visitors (“Homes in Honduras”). Although kindness and faith is not within the hearts of every person living in poverty, many are known for these
