America is a nation of immigrants. Unfortunately, there has been many misconceptions on legal and illegal immigration in the United States. Many people argue that because immigrants have a high fertility and low education that their contributions are costly rather than beneficial to the nation. Others argue that immigrants are “taking our jobs.” My researches found that if undocumented immigrants were given a pathway to citizenship, they would contribute even more to the U.S. economy. I will be analyzing and researching these claims and other positive effects of legal and illegal immigration in a social sense.
