America’s gift to my generation is the people who are fighting and fought have pride in their country. The women back then had no rights when they were married, other than to take care of children, cook, and clean. My aunt had worked as a doctor in the war and she had to work and she went through some rough times. America’s gift to my generation have soldiers fighting and dying for our freedom. When we say the pledge of allegiance we are promising to be loyal, obedient and dedicate to our self to our country. Franklin D Roosevelt once said “We, and all others who believe in freedom as deeply as we do, would rather die on our feet than live on our knees.”The people that went in war wanted the country to be free and hoped that we could live in a world of peace and freedom. My grandma’s generation of health was not the greatest in war time. When my grandma was a girl, her friend went blind and they couldn't help her so they left her blind and hoped for the best. The best hospital in Minnesota in Saint Cloud saved many people's lives. People in the war time didn't know how to treat a cold, so when you couldn't be treated and you wouldn't live. After my aunt was done in school she went to a collage to be a doctor and a cook in the war. She lived in Longview Washington when she was growing up and came to Minnesota after she graduated.
