Well, that's the harsh reality of racism - judging and oppressing people based on their race. Racism is a terrible problem that separates individuals based on race. It has a long history, rooted in prejudiced beliefs and discriminatory practices. Racism has had a profound impact on society, from slavery to colonization, and present-day systematic racism. Racism helps breed social divisions and denies equal opportunities. This highlights how racial profiling is still a problem that exists in society today. Even though the U.S. claims to have entered a “post-racial era” this evidence clearly explains how racial profiling can badly affect people. According to the American Civil Liberties Union, racial profiling has been used unconstitutionally. “National security” has long been used to justify the unconstitutional profiling of, and discrimination against, Muslim, Black, Brown, and other historically marginalized communities”(ACLU). This highlights how police use the word “national security” to try and justify their racial profiling of people of color. Not only is that a way for them to get away with harassing people, but it allows them to keep getting away with it.
