To break it down, there are many different types of profiling viewpoints. You can almost think of it as stereotyping, and there are different things you can get “profiled” for. The most popular type of profiling is racial, and it has been the biggest and the most controversial issue. It is just another tactic that people of the federal estate hae in their toolbox. These enforcers of the law can use statistics to track down people of certain ethnicities, as some are more likely to commit certain crimes based upon their upbringing and what and how they were taught. Racial Profiling can seem somewhat reasonable looking at the past. For example, looking back at 9/11 there have been more attacks topped by racial profiling, and there have been many more threats by (for example) the islamic state. Racial profiling can save federal enforcers money when on the lookout for a certain criminal. Possibly having an idea of what the criminal looks like can save time and money spent on recourses. Racial profilings’ most obvious issue is in its name. It is racist, and targets whole populations for crimes committed by a small group of those races. It is also unethical, and generalizations about whole races and pigments can change the how the world sees these people, which is not all good. It is a racist, discriminatory and ineffective way to search for problems and more times than not it will actually lead to a civil case instead of the criminal being sought after. Racial profiling has worked before and has stopped major terrorist attacks, but the chances of this happening again are extremely small. It is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, but it has worked before and there is no doubt it will happen again and help law enforcers find their “unsub”. It all lies in their hands, the enforcers of federal law. They make their own decisions and it's all in their control. The problem of racial profiling has already affected communities and whole entire populations, and will do nothing but drive humanity downhill from where we already are. With so much evil in the world and the islamic state and so many controversies, it wouldn’t hurt to at least not be racist.
