What would you do if you wanted two redbone coonhounds but you had to work for years to get them? In Where the Red Fern Grows, Billy was faced with this very question. Everyone agrees that Billy bought two adorable coon hounds, but some believe that Billy should have bought the dogs while others believe that he should not have bought the dogs.

Billy should have gotten the pups for three reasons: Billy learned responsibility, new hunting skills, and perseverance.
