As a first generation college student, I hope to someday give back to my community, most specially my home country. Unfortunately, my parents couldn’t afford to send me to college so; I went to vocational nursing school first to help me get through college. I work as a charge nurse in a skilled nursing facility by night and a student by day. It is a thankless job and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. All of my experiences cultivated me to be the person I am today and also drives me to become successful and happy. I learned to be persistent with all the things I venture on and to always strive to be humbly exquisite of all the things I do under any circumstances. My passion for research was sharpened by my work at Dr. Barry Milavetz's laboratory in the University of North Dakota. I witnessed a revolutionary ingenuity and collaboration to achieve a goal. In the laboratory, I experienced the fine line between theories being taught in the classroom setting and its application to the real world. This experience definitely challenged me in a way that a classroom setting couldn't compare, I learned to think critically in ways studying in a less subjective exam
