Have you ever wanted an exotic pet like a fox or a raven well in Maine we can't have those you need a special importation permit for the few animals that can be in your kept in your possession. A few animals banned in Maine are, Moose, and bear are some of the many native animals you may not own in Maine. Maybe the pets mentioned should not be added to the list but Maine should definitely loosen up their laws on exotic pets. First keeping some species in any sort of captivity could help bring their population up and off of the endangered species list, like the black footed ferret slate.com tells us about. They were believed to be extinct for two years, one day a farmer's dog brought home a dead black footed ferret. It was then discovered that some 100 black footed ferrets had survived against all odds. About 18 ferrets were brought into captivity to be bred and protected. They bred some 8,000 ferrets and released about half of that into their old habitats with hope they would survive. many people smuggle exotic pet across the state borders like smuggling them from pet stores in New Hampshire into maine, or even across large countries. Smuggling is a large problem in many states, Maine is a prime place for smugglers to bring their exotic animals because many are banned in the state. Fetching a great price for exotic animals is easy in Maine there's actually a very large eel smuggling ring in maine that smuggles eels out of the state. But that's another problem the real problem is the animals being smuggled in if we could slow that or even stop it just by adding some different animals to that list. Why wouldn't people do this, some people may think they are dangerous or its cruel but many can also see it as a way to help stop some of that cruelty they speak
