For many students, year-round schooling feels like a trap because many look forward to summer break and time to relax. Then there is the issue of bullying, which is something that 1 in 5 kids aged 12-18 experience at some point in their life. Many kids skip school because of bullying and forcing year-round school may cause them to harm themselves. If children persistently skip school, they will have low grades and may not get promoted to the next grade. The only option for those students is to have summer school – which doesn’t require the whole summer – but still keeps them on track. If school goes year-round then the only option is to repeat that grade, which can also lead to bullying. Many children will feel the need to bully them because they moved up and that person didn't. In addition, shorter breaks affect academic performance – even though this sounds ridiculous – frequent short breaks do not give students enough time to absorb the material learned, this can create a cycle of learning and forgetting which ultimately hinders academic performance (truth in American education). Some may argue that children do not read enough during the summer, but, many kids participate in extracurricular activities during the summer that include various subjects, including reading. Also, it is not logical to have schools constantly require students to take all classes simply because
