My first reason year-round schooling is good is that it is easier for students. The reason I have this as my first reason is that it allows students to retain more knowledge and lose less information over the summer. They would most likely say this because students need to spend as much time as possible out in the sun during the summertime. According to 10 Pros & Cons Of Summer Break For Students “One key benefit of taking a long summer break is rest, with a busy schedule students may only have time for homework and schoolwork so they need some time off.” (Academic Enrichment 1) This supports their reasoning because it proves that students get to spend more time out of school relaxing after a long school year. It also proves that relaxation is crucial for students. However, what they failed to realize or consider is that with year-round schooling students have more time off in between during the school year. Students in year-round schooling also have more time to rest during the school year. so they are not as overwhelmed during the school year and have more breaks and longer breaks throughout the year. Some evidence to prove them wrong is according to the Seattle Times “Not only will students dread starting school even more, but they also will have to get back into the schedule and have to get used to not sleeping in every day.” (Seattle Times 1). Some more evidence to support this is “Most parents – whether they want to admit it or not – are breathing a sigh of relief, because someone (Typically the mother) has to supervise their kids the whole summer.” (Seattle Times 1). Both pieces of evidence prove that year-round schooling is superior to not only do most people agree with this, but there are also plenty of articles and research proving that year-round schooling is superior to conventional schooling.
