Our society is an incessantly changing one and as such is exceedingly different from the world of a decade or even a few years past. Technological progression has given rise to a world dependent upon technology and the tendency to interpret what we see or hear represented through these forms of technology as factual. For decades, the subject of vaccinations has been an issue of debate, however, with the advancement of technology numerous new media has been created and presents the opportunity for new forms of representation. Due to this, the importance of social and mainstream media has become an important component in the debate on vaccines and how these ideas are being represented to the public through these various forms of media. News coverage is a major component in the long standing issue of vaccines. The majority of experts in this field of vaccine study believe that vaccines are not only risk-free, but they provide preventative measures against potentially tragic maladies. Nevertheless, on the opposing side there is a percentage that claim vaccines carry a high-risk factor and do not share the same beliefs as the bulk of experts on the subject. Issues arise during media coverage, when individuals endeavor to be unbiased representatives of the topic in order to maintain a sense of equilibrium between opposing sides.
