A bruise on the brain? Yes, and it’s more serious than you are making it out to be. You see, having a bruising on the brain is called a concussion and can lead to many different problems in your physical and psychological health. This semester I was able to take the opportunity to read and write research on the concussions themselves and the effects thereafter in athletes, a priority focus I took for example studies on football players. Then explained how that affects the youth of today in football and contrasting it to the further age and professional levels of the sport, brought in a discussion of the gear these players use, how it protects the players and what are the most severe damages to the gear causing concussions in the people wearing it. Then finally was able to establish a valid argument of points to be able to understand and provide an element of persuasion for the opposite side of my audience, an insight into thoughts and potential solutions to football’s dangers to the brains of many who play the sport. For these specific points, I believe the research supporting these paragraphs has brought me enough credibility to create a strong basis for people to understand my claim. But my analysis of what I have found has brought me to the conclusion that we need alternative solutions as well as the current advancement in sports technology, without striving to find the answer of an alternate way to allow the youth a game of the same intensity and safety of mind. The makeup of the brain, the age of the player, when they start playing, even the kind of helmet they have on is a factor in their future. And if we’re unable to come to a consensus about the endangerment of our own youth’s futures, then the game should not continue the way it has been for decades. Without a solution I believe my claim is right in saying it is not worth it to retain a sport for entertainment at risk of the futures of our fellow man not only limited to football
