There were very many differences and similarities in The Outsiders the movie and The Outsiders the book. There were differences like how Darry and Ponyboy fought constantly near the end of the movie and during a fight in the book near the beginning Darry slaps Ponyboy and in the movie Ponyboy was pushed by Darry. In the movie someone punched Ponyboy first instead of Darry like it Paul had in the book. In the movie while Johnny was asleep one of his cigarette started the fire while in the book you don’t know what started the fire until they suggested it. Some similarities were that they still met cherry at the drive in movies, they went to all the same places in both the movie and the book, Randy and Ponyboy still had a conversation …show more content…
Infact, about all of the scenes and places they went were about the same in both the movie and book. Ponyboy and Randy had a similar conversation in Randy’s Mustang referring to how much Randy missed Bob and how he didn’t want to fight anymore. Finally, in both the movie and the book Dally died the same way and he wanted to die too.
The theme that I believe this story was mainly about was how sometimes friends are your closest family. The reason I think this is because the greasers stick together through thick and thin and have always been there for each other, some of them more them their families have. They are willing to fight for each other and for the sake of their buddies on the East side of town. They have learned that you don’t have to be related to be a family especially if your own blood treats you like dirt.
The Outsiders was a very good book and movie and I enjoyed the whole of the story. They were different in some ways but mostly similar in portraying the same message. That message was the family and friends are the most valuable people in your life. You should never take them for
